Tesla Factory Workers Want More Transparency From Elon Musk

He refrained from revealing more about the Model 3 Performance's potential, but the hot version is expected to stick to Tesla's usual range-topping formula of using a dual-motor, four-wheel drive powertrain.

Workers sent the letter to independent board members to hold CEO Elon Musk accountable three days after the first 30 deliveries were handed over to Tesla employees.

Musk said the demands for the Tesla Model 3 has surpassed supply, which he said will take till 2018.

Musk opened up on Twitter after responding to a follower discussing his Instagram account, pointing out how the photos portray the Tesla and SpaceX founder's "amazing life".

But the handover event came as nearly an anticlimax for Wall Street, and TSLA shares started tumbling after Musk told journalists ahead of the ceremony, "We're going to go through at least six months of manufacturing hell".

However, some analysts still question Tesla's ability to ramp up from producing around 80,000 cars in the past year to 250,000 in the next 12 months.

The 3 is the weakest in the looks department, as the high roofline and slab-sided design is a big departure from the Model S' taut, handsome lines.

She also stated that she would meet the families only if she had some credible proof of the fate of the 39 Indians. The external affairs minister said she had never misled Parliament or the families of the abducted Indians.

The first models of the 35,000 electric vehicle begin production this week. "We wanted to make a vehicle everyone could buy", Musk said Friday.

Sacconaghi also noted two other data points that further support the argument that the Model 3 could threaten sales of S and X models.

The $35,000 price-tag, as car-consumer website Jalponik.com points out, is for the most bare-bones version of the vehicle. Tesla has already sold more than 126,000 vehicles since 2008, according to estimates by WardsAuto, so not everyone who buys a Model 3 will be eligible. That price also means the Model 3 will enjoy more sales in other regions of the world including Asia, which has largely been left out of the high-end electric vehicle craze.

The pricing for the Model 3 will vary over its base, depending on the features one adds.

A Reddit user claiming to work for robot making company Kuka posted the images of what he says are 467 robots being delivered to the car-making firm's California HQ.

'Kuka is the world's leading provider of production systems in the automotive industry, ' the firm boasts on its website.

Tesla will also be using the Model 3 as an opportunity to scale up its manufacturing. Experts argue that if the Model 3 is as good as advertised, the company will be the pioneer of a new niche of "cool electric cars".
