Manchester City have taken their summer spending past the £200m mark by announcing the arrival of Benjamin Mendy from Monaco.

Vincent Kompany can't wait to see what new signings Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy bring to Manchester City after their thrilling season with Monaco.

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester City", Mendy told his new club's official site.

Manager Pep Guardiola will be especially pleased with the business he has done this summer when it comes to strengthening the club's back-line.

It is believed that City are to pay 30 million euros plus five million in add-ons for the defender, who departs Real after two years in Madrid.

Pep Guardiola has been keen to bolster his full-back areas after Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna were released when their contracts expired at the end of last season.

Before the rollout of GST on July 1, Opposition parties had protested claiming that the nation was not ready for GST. Meanwhile, the polling for the President election is underway at the Parliament and the various state Assemblies.

Mendy, 23, has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium for a reported £52m.

Guardiola has long identified Mendy as the man he wants to be his left-back this season and he will be City's fourth signing after Silva, Walker and goalkeeper Ederson.

The Spanish global started ahead of Danilo in the Champions League final in Cardiff as Real Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 to lift their 12th European Cup.

The deal took a while to complete, but city's director of football, Txiki Begiristain was pleased to have secured their first-choice target. Walker showed in City's preseason derby loss against Manchester United in Houston that he is able to supplement the attack and still have the energy levels to cover someone as fast as Marcus Rashford. "For such a young player, he has a wealth of top-level experience", he said. In fact, Mendy has made more accurate crosses from open play (116) than any other Ligue 1 player since August 2014.

After finishing a disappointing third in the Premier League last season and crashing out of the Champions League to Monaco at the last-16 stage, City have spent big during the summer window. His crosses are one of the best in not only his position but the world.
