Her presence at the table was somewhat unusual, the Post noted, given that high-level government officials would usually replace the president and hobnob with world leaders.

A senior Trump administration official confirmed that Ivanka, who just last month advised she tries "to stay out of politics," sat in for the president, who had left to attend bilateral meetings.

"When other leaders stepped out, their seats were also briefly filled by others ..."

In a rare, self-deprecating moment, the president said during remarks in Hamburg that he's been proud of his eldest daughter from "day one". "Might be the only bad thing she has going".

Normally, if the president has to leave a global meeting for any reason - even presidents have to use the bathroom - it's a high-ranking official who takes over.

Even if he's healthy enough to play at Wimbledon , his lack of preparation on grass prior to the event is a concern. The pressure Andy Murray feels at Wimbledon actually helps him concentrate better, the defending champion has said.

Some attacked her or used her to attack President Trump - and a number simply asked why she was even there.

A Russian official tweeted a photo of the first daughter sitting to the right of British Prime Minister Theresa May, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the background, but deleted it some time later.

In fall 2016, Ivanka was also criticized when she was photographed sitting in on a meeting her father had at Trump Tower with the prime minister of Japan.

The image of the First Daughter at the top table sparked a barrage of criticism on social media, with many raising concerns over her unelected status. As Bloomberg reported, one official who was watching said it happened on two occasions and Ivanka did not speak.

Ivanka Trump attended G-20 to talk about women's issues, and, as part of the American delegation, she can step in for the president. At that appearance she called her father a "tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive". Ivanka Trump joined the White House staff as an unpaid assistant to the president in March. "I think there are multiple ways to have your voice heard", Trump had said.
