Heather Watson stuns 18th seed Anastasia Sevastova at Wimbledon

It promises to be a fine contest and Watson will fancy her chances given Azarenka's lack of match practice.

Sevastova, clearly unhappy with her performance, battled back in the second set, managing a break of her own and winning three games in a row to take a 3-1 lead.

"I felt very good at the beginning of the match, very on it and relaxed", said Watson.

She teamed up with coaches Phillips and Colin Beecher in the spring at the start of the clay court season and it appears to have achieved the right results after reaching the semi-finals in the Aegon International Championship at Eastbourne last week.

Azarenka is now back on the circuit after taking time off to have a baby and was too good for 15th seed Elena Vesnina. "I feel like my tennis is just really improving at the moment".

Watson combined some excellent movement on the grass with some heavy hitting and outclassed her Latvian opponent to reach the third round for a third time.

Watson, who will next face Victoria Azarenka, is determined to avoid a repeat of her third-round exits of 2012 and 2015, when she nearly put out Serena Williams.

"She stepped up in the second set, but I was able to keep my cool and stay with her".

"I'm just going to go out there and play my match".

Then with a grin, she added: "And I'm going to watch Love Island".

Brengle, ranked 95th in the world, went on to beat Kvitova 6-3 1-6 6-2, in her second ever singles win at the tournament. I've got to expect her to raise her level and to try something new, and she did. I know she has only just come back, but I expect her to be playing really well because I know she will have put in the hours and the work.
