How Does Paul George Trade Impact Russell Westbrook's Thunder Future?

The 27-year-old forward's destination this summer has been subject of high speculation in recent weeks with teams like the Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs among the prospects. We have the rangy forward listed at No. 16 on the ESPN fantasy rankings, right between Isaiah Thomas (No. 15) and Jimmy Butler (No. 17), and though the trade doesn't change his ranking it does change the way we think about George.

According to Mike Wise of The Undefeated, a three-way trade between the Nuggets, Cavaliers and Pacers, in which Love to Denver, George to Cleveland and Gary Harris to in, was in talks, but ultimately reneged by Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard.

League sources have confirmed that the Indiana Pacers have traded All-Star Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Domantas Sabonis and Victor Oladipo.

George has one year remaining on his contract and is set to become a free agent next summer when he declines his player option.

He says he asked the Interior Department in 2013 to delist grizzly bears and is glad to see that finally happening. Thursday's announcement from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke comes after decades of study and formalizes the U.S.

Oladipo is the third part of this deal worth mentioning, because he's a young scorer and secondary rebounder and distributor who also makes 3s (1.9 per game last season) and racks up steals (1.5 SPG in his career). George now heads to the Western conference to play with Russell Westbrook, and the two of them should be a fun duo to watch. Oladipo averages a couple more points and assists per night while Crowder is a better rebounder and defender.

Westbrook told the team following the end of that season that he wanted the roster to improve so the team could continue with the best team in first the Western Conference and for the National Basketball Association title. Also, this gives OKC one more great defender as he is considered to be one of the best perimeter defenders in the National Basketball Association that can guard the best players in the league. The team has plenty of assets, and it actually added to its picks and players when it traded the first overall pick days before the NBA Draft. Another Aussie, center Andrew Bogut, is on the free agency market after suffering a broken left leg in his debut with Cleveland last season.

For the Lakers, the news was expectedly quiet and calm as the team reached out to a handful of free agents at midnight in Andre Iguodala, Rajon Rondo and Ben McLemore.
