Mariano presented at Lyon, leaves Real Madrid for €8 million

Mariano presented at Lyon, leaves Real Madrid for €8 million

This isn't exactly groundbreaking news, as we all know Atlético made an offer, and most clubs would prefer to keep their best players, but, nearly as if hinting that a departure was likely this summer, the Lyon boss also explained that if his star striker were to leave, they would bring someone else in.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has indicated that he does not expect the 26-year-old to leave the Ligue 1 club this summer, with the forward instead preferring a transfer to Atletico Madrid, which could potentially be completed in January.

Arsenal fans will hope that Lyon's latest arrival more or less confirms a deal for Lacazette is in fact imminent.

Lacazette was expected to join Atletico Madrid earlier this month until the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision to uphold a summer-long transfer embargo on Los Rojiblancos. "It will be a French global or a player of a very large European club".

Arsenal have ended their interest in Kylian Mbappe to focus all their attentions on the double signing of French stars AlexandreLacazette and Thomas Lemar.

Diaz, 23, has worked his way though the ranks at Madrid and scored five goals in 14 top-team appearances last season as the Spanish giants won La Liga and the Champions League.

In an interview with the French broadcaster, Aulas said: "I do not think that Alexandre Lacazette will leave this summer. We're interested. Things haven't advanced".
