Cavs racing against the free agency clock to trade for Paul George?

The Celtics, for their part, are confident that George will sign a long-term deal if they get Hayward first. In fact, they don't want to wait for free agency to begin either.

After all of the rumors and reports, the Boston Celtics did not end up swinging a trade for a superstar before or during the 2017 NBA Draft. The Celtics hope to receive a commitment from Hayward, who will be a free agent, before then moving the requisite pieces to IN to add George.

According to The Vertical the Boston Celtics are planning on an aggressive summer with a potential signing of Gordon Hayward and moving assets to the Pacers for Paul George.

Still, the Celtics need to carve out more room under the salary cap before the Hayward-George dream can materialize.
