The Chicago Blackhawks have been as busy as any team in the National Hockey League over the course of the past week, and that has continued in the final hours before tonight's draft.

The Blackhawks completed two trades Friday, first dealing 25-year-old forward Artemi Panarin to the Columbus Blue Jackets to re-acquire 24-year-old winger Brandon Saad.

The Blackhawks received defenseman Connor Murphy and center Laurent Dauphin from the Coyotes [for Hjalmarsson]. The Arizona Coyotes have acquired Hjalmarsson in a trade with the Blackhawks. He was an important part of two of their Stanley Cup runs. "I mean obviously we didn't know until we began negotiating where they were going to be", Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said.

Both Panarin and Saad carry a $6 million cap hit, but Saad is signed through 2020-21, two years longer than Panarin.

NBA Draft rumors: Lakers still 'undecided' on Lonzo Ball at No. 2
It's official: Lonzo Ball was selected by his hometown Lakers, and dad LaVar was ready for the announcement. The Sixers had acquired the top slot in a trade with the Boston Celtics, who now have the third pick.

"I certainly like the fact that we're getting younger", Bowman said.

Saad won a pair of Stanley Cups with the Hawks and returns after a two-year stint with Columbus. Motte, 22, scored four goals and three assists in 33 games for the Blackhawks a year ago in his rookie season. The Swede had five goals, 13 assists and a team-high 181 blocked shots in 73 games last season.

Chicago also acquires a cheap potential backup goaltender in the 24-year-old Forsberg, while Columbus gets the 22-year-old Motte, who has seven points in 33 career games.
