NBA Draft rumors: Lakers still 'undecided' on Lonzo Ball at No. 2

The Sixers had acquired the top slot in a trade with the Boston Celtics, who now have the third pick.

The Lakers had also worked out Kansas guard/forward Josh Jackson, Kentucky guard De'Aaron Fox and Washington guard Markelle Fultz, whom the Philadelphia 76ers selected with the No. 1 pick. That leaves the Los Angeles Lakers with the only pick that is not already set in stone.

Lonzo Ball, right, is greeted by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers as the No. 2 overall pick during the NBA basketball draft, Thursday, June 22, 2017, in NY.

To no surprise, the Orioles showed interest in Hall's 90-93 miles per hour fastball reaching up to 95 with late arm-side run. Warmoth went 22nd overall to the Toronto Blue Jays (sigh), and the Dodgers pounced on Kendall with the 23rd overall pick.

After meeting with the Lakers twice and notably not publicly meeting with other teams, Ball's gamble appeared to pay off when he heard his name called by National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York on Thursday night.

It's official: Lonzo Ball was selected by his hometown Lakers, and dad LaVar was ready for the announcement. The Lakers brought in each of the four in for individual workouts, including Ball. With team president Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka making the decision to trade D'Angelo Russell to Brooklyn, with center Brook Lopez moving to LA, there was a clear need for the Lakers to address.

Despite possessing an unorthodox shot, Ball was considered one of the best playmakers in the draft after averaging 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game at UCLA.
