Google's Search Engine Aims to Become Employment Engine

Google's Search Engine Aims to Become Employment Engine

We already use Google to search for just about everything, so why not take it a step further and use it to find job results?

After announcing it during its annual developer conference in May this year, Google's search engine for jobs "Google for Jobs" is now live in the US.

However, you have to keep your searches specific to yield the intended results.

Clicking one of the listings brings up more information about the position along with employee ratings of the company that posted it from sites such as Glassdoor. Google's blogpost outlines how Google for Jobs will work.

He felt an "unbelievable" pressure on his head, he said in the TV interview. "So it went over the falls unmanned". Jones later joined a Florida-based circus as a stunt performer and had recently been living in Spring Hill, Fla.

At I/O, Google said it would be using machine learning to help organize and sort this data, automatically clustering similar jobs for example.

Google announced its search-based Google for Jobs at I/O this year, but the feature has only appeared intermittently as a test since then. Jobseekers can simply type queries like "jobs near me" or "retail jobs" in the search box and Google will return a list of available positions. Employers say they have difficulty filling spots and sometimes this is a result of not being able to find the right person for the job. "We want to do what we do best: search", Nick Zakrasek, Google's product manager for this project, told TechCrunch. It all happens in the search page, so it's quick and easy - no more trawling through Facebook, classifieds, LinkedIn, and a bunch of job boards. For some jobs, the search results will also include pertinent information such as the estimated commute time from users' home addresses. Notifications of new jobs matching the given criteria will be sent to them via email like any other Google Alert. "We want the players in the ecosystem to be more successful".

Google is trying to turn its search engine into an employment engine.

Madgex job boards in the United States can take full advantage of this new functionality from day one, thanks to their partnership with Google. Anything beyond that is not in Google's wheelhouse, he added. Google also assured a new filter to the Search Analytics report to this Google job search feature.
