Sabres acquire defenseman Nathan Beaulieu from Canadiens

In 2016-17 Beaulieu registered four goals and 24 assists in 74 games and added an assist in five playoff games.

After weeks of speculation, the Montreal Canadiens and Nathan Beaulieu have parted ways, as the defenceman was traded to the Buffalo Sabres for a third-round pick in the 2017 entry draft.

Beaulieu was the 17th overall pick back in 2011 and had spent his entire National Hockey League career with the Canadiens until now.

Before that Nate split time between Montreal and Hamilton (the Habs old AHL affiliate) from 2012-13 to 2014-15.

According to Basic Rights Oregon , even the United Nations already uses a non-binary gender marker, X. Judge Amy Holmes Hen ruled that "The sex of Jamie Shupe is hereby changed from female to non-binary".

Beaulieu opened the season on Montreal's opening line before falling down on the depth chart throughout the year.

New coach Claude Julien didn't have a lot of faith in him either as Beaulieu was a healthy scratch for Game-6 of the Habs/NY Rangers series. The teams announced the trade Saturday prior to the NHL's trade freeze for the Vegas expansion draft.

"Over the last three seasons, there have been moments when Beaulieu has looked terrific on the ice, but like most young defensemen, consistency has been a problem".

On Sunday at 10:30am, the National Hockey League announced which players each team had chosen to protect from the upcoming expansion draft.
