Canadian teenager Brooke Henderson roars back to win Meijer LPGA Classic

Canadian star Brooke Henderson rolled in four straight birdies in the middle of her round en route to a 67 and a two-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Meijer Classic on Friday.

Fellow major champion Lexi Thompson, coming off a playoff loss to Ariya Jutanugarn on Sunday in Canada, followed her opening 64 with a 68 to join 2016 runner-up Carlota Ciganda (64) and Mi Jung Hur (66) at 10 under.

Henderson was the leader after the first two rounds, but went into the final round in a group tied for second.

Seven golfers, meanwhile, are one shot further back at 10-under, just five shots back of the lead.

"My irons were really good", the South African player said.

Her third round included three birdies through the front nine and then a double birdie on the par 5 hole 11 at the Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids. In her stretch of final six holes, Aditi picked up three birdies against one dropped shot on the sixth. "I'm just excited. It was a good week for me here previous year so I have great memories".

Moriya Jutanugarn, Ariya Jutanugarn's older sister, is fifth at nine under after a 66.

The little-known Maute group has been a fierce enemy of a military with superior firepower and greater troop strength. In more than two weeks of fighting, at least 202 people have been killed: 134 militants, 38 troops, and 30 civilians.

"It's great to see my name up there (on the top of the leaderboard)", said Henderson of Ottawa, Ontario.

Ko, who lost her spot on the top of the Rolex Rankings this week after 85 weeks at No.1, said, overall, that she played "pretty solid" Saturday.

"I made that long one from off the green on 12 that wasn't really expected and that kind of gave me some energy", she said.

Flooding on the golf course caused the par five 5th hole to be played as a par three today resulting in the golf course being played as a par 69 and Thompson's round of 5 under was in fact a 64.

Henderson, now 19, burst onto the LPGA scene by winning the Portland Classic by eight strokes in 2015, becoming the third player to triumph before turning 18 after Thompson and Lydia Ko.

Kim had her second 70 to make the cut on the number.
