NBA Finals 2017: Warriors vs

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, center, celebrates with teammates after the Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-113 Wednesday night in Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Cleveland.

Kevin Durant scored 31 points, Klay Thompson had 30 and Stephen Curry put in 26 as the Warriors took a 3-0 series lead and extended their postseason win streak to 15, the most by any team in any major American sport.

James and Irving combined for 77 points but their efforts went for naught as the late-game collapse by the defending champion Cavaliers left them trailing the best-of-seven NBA Finals 3-0. "It was like poetry just watching him take that [last] shot".

LeBron cooled down a bit in the third quarter, but he did pick up four assists in the period, and for the first time all series, the rest of the Cavs helped carry the load. With two of the best shooters in the National Basketball Association in Durant and Curry, Golden State won a respectable 67 games in the regular season, including 15 in 16 games before the start of the playoffs.

"It's probably the most firepower I've played in my career".

"But with Steph and K.D., you're talking about guys who handle the ball, who shoot from range, who cut, who are kind of used to playing off the ball, so that the transition I think was pretty smooth". LeBron James scored a game-high 39 points to go with 11 rebounds and nine assists in 45 exhausting minutes.

Another defeat for the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. “Like skiing on ice, ” was how Ainslie described the days sailing. Team NZ still hold a 3-1 lead over the British boat in the best of nine series.

"It was just ideal timing at the right moment", Iguodala said. "It wasn't our smartest game that we have played all year, but it was maybe our toughest in terms of our ability to just hang in there". After a missed corner three from Kyle Korver on a kick-out pass from James, Durant smoothly came down and buried the dagger to give the Warriors their first lead all fourth quarter.

For all this while, the Golden State Warriors refused to look too far ahead. "I gave everything that I had, so at times throughout the game I was exhausted, but that's just because I was just playing as hard as I could".

"But now that it's a legit possibility, one game away, I think you should think about it because you want to win the next game".

"We know in that situation to get that man the rock". But just like the first two blowouts, the final scores don't matter in a series, just the results.

Irving missed an off-balance 3-pointer and Durant and Curry each made two free throws on the next Golden State possessions to seal Cleveland's fate.

Durant took his former Oklahoma City Thunder team to the NBA Finals in 2012, where they fell in five games to a Miami Heat squad that featured James. The only game the 76ers lost in their 1983 championship run was to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals. Fortunately, tonight was the Cavaliers' best game in the finals.
