Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave Manchester United on Friday

His one-year contract expires on June 30 with United set to omit Ibrahimovic when the Premier League announce United's list of retained players for the 2017/18 season that is published at 9am (BST) on Friday morning.

The sources said United have decided it does not make economic sense to continue to pay Ibrahimovic reported wages of more than £300,000-a-week with no prospect of him playing for at least the first five months of the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a stellar season for the Red Devils this past year and the Swede proved why he is one of the best players in the world.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals, including a victor in the EFL Cup final against Southampton, before suffering a knee injury during United's Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht.

A host of big name attacking players have been linked with United in recent months to help replace Ibrahimovic and fellow forward Wayne Rooney, who could also be on his way out this summer.
