To go with the increased engine outputs the XE SV Project 8 is also expected to arrive with specially-tuned suspension, lighter and larger wheels with sticky tyres, and a revised eight-speed automatic for charper gear changes, coupled to an all-wheel drive system.

Jaguar say they will reveal full details of the XE Project 8 on 28 June, two days before the auto debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. A camouflaged vehicle has been lapping the Nürburgring and now, I assume, Jaguar would like to start the bidding.

Just 300 of them will be made worldwide at its technical centre in Coventry and will, Jaguar says, offer "supercar performance and dynamics", but in a sedan.

Towards the rear of the vehicle, flared wheel arches suggest the XE's track has been widened. I'm a little surprised they went with the XE for this one, but I'm also excited to see just how insane they can make it.

The V8 in the XE SV Project 8 produces a humungous 592bhp, which is 25bhp more compared to the V8 used in Jaguar's F-TYPE-based Project 7. "The SVO team is possessed by the spirit of performance and committed to creating the most thrilling driving experience imaginable", said John Edwards, MD of JLR's performance arm. The public debut is set for the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and we already know that the specs will be announced two days before the event. Indeed, it's the most powerful road-legal Jaguar there's ever been. Just 300 collectors editions will be produced, all 300 to be engineered and assembled in house by SVO. As for the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, the engine will probably be the most powerful, featuring 600 horses.

The XE SV Project 8 promises huge horsepower and a limited production run. The price of the super sedan has not yet been released, but according to Edwards, the price will reflect the excellent performance of the sedan that is available in such limited numbers.
