Tornado warning issued for county until 4:30 pm

A tornado watch and flash flood warning for the Lowcountry ended late Tuesday night. Conditions are favorable for some of these storms to produce severe weather in the form of damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning and very heavy rain, the NWS said.

The storms may have already spawned a tornado.

Another tornado was confirmed in Newberry County shortly after 3 p.m. The saturated ground will provide Wednesday's storms with the opportunity to create flooding issues.

The tornado watch covers Athens, Atlanta, Gainesville and Rome.

Wednesday marks the second day in a row and the third day in the last four that we've had multiple tornado warnings for several areas of the First Coast.

A chance of thunderstorms are expected to continue through Thursday morning.

A SC sheriff's office says roads have been blocked in their county due to toppled trees and downed power lines.

Forecast: Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible ahead of the cold front in parts of the Mid-Atlantic States, particularly from the Delmarva Peninsula to eastern North Carolina. However, where thunderstorm clusters stall or move too slowly, higher amounts are expected.

In the event of a Tornado Watch, review and discuss emergency plans and check supplies. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
