Delivery is a tricky proposition for McDonald's.

But, likely because UberEats carries a $5 delivery charge, pricier than most of McDonald's menu items, customers aren't ordering happy meals for delivery.

Starting today, the service expands to 300 restaurants in Los Angeles, 267 in Chicago, 59 in Columbus, and 144 in Phoenix. Among the selections include Tito's, Don Julio, Stella Artois and Dom Perignon.

McDonald's already has well-established delivery services in Asia and the Middle East, where for some restaurants delivery is 40 percent of sales.

Food delivery is not a new program for the Golden Arches.

It's a shame considering that the movie was supposed to start a new King Arthur franchise. You'd think a familiar, public-domain property like King Arthur would be an easy sell.

McDonald's announced "McDelivery" is now available from more than 1,000 USA locations. In big markets like New York City, delivery through smaller third-party options has existed for years, and the high density of McDonald's there makes it easy to get food to customers' doors. In-house delivery means added complexities, paying drivers, and additional insurance costs. In April, the food chain announced it would be launching the service nationally, but at the time did not state what specific cities would be involved.

"McDonald's restaurant footprint, combined with the cutting-edge innovation of the UberEats platform, positions us well to meet consumer demand for fast and reliable delivery, making this an ideal partnership", Easterbrook said in a statement.

Almost 75 percent of the US population lives within three 3 miles of a McDonald's restaurant, according to the company.

McDonald's has not only taken steps to revolutionize their customers' experience outside of the restaurant, but inside as well.
