Despite penalty, Joey Logano still views Richmond victory as what it was

NASCAR confirmed that it had discovered a rear suspension problem on Logano's No.22 Ford during the inspection and teardown process.

Team Penske doesn't intentional try to skirt NASCAR's rulebook; it merely tries to push the limits as far as it can because that's what teams have to do if they want to win.

Although Logano will still be able to keep the win, he will not be able to use it to secure an automatic spot in the playoffs. He will miss his crew chief Todd Gordon for two races, lose 25 points (which could mean the loss of additional playoff points based on the final regular-season standings).

In other words, the seventh-year Cup Series crew chief accepts the decision but wants to make clear that the team wasn't trying to gain an unfair advantage. While NASCAR is reluctant to ever pull a victory from a driver, the rule prevents teams from making the postseason automatically if a gross violation is found. The differences are that NASCAR still declares the winning driver the victor (the sanctioning body has always been loathe to name anyone a race victor who didn't take the checkered flag) and that vacated victories in other sports usually take place down the road, not within the season now being contested.

Logano's race engineer Miles Stanley and veteran crew chief Greg Erwin will pick up the slack in the absence of Gordon.

We Don't Leak Reports, Says Venkaiah Naidu On Robert Vadra Row
In response to the paper, Vadra's lawyer said the company or his client had "committed no wrong and no laws were violated". Robert Vadra's Skylight Hospitality company is under investigative agencies' scanner over its land deals with DLF.

The exact rule broken dealt with modifying parts that enhanced the driver's ability to move through the corners of the track. "Obviously. we've lost all the benefits of the win".

"We are disappointed by the notice, however, we do not plan to appeal the penalty".

This is the second time Team Penske had a violation in a race this season. Logano also incurred a 25-point driver points penalty, and the team was docked 25 owner points. Kyle Busch's Xfinity Series team was tagged with an encumbered finish in his race win at Atlanta earlier this season.

In another penalty issued Thursday, Denny Hamlin's vehicle, the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing entry, was missing a lug nut during postrace inspection at Richmond. The most severe was issued to the Richard Childress Racing No. 21 Chevrolet driven by rookie Daniel Hemric.
