Following Phil Jackson's public discouragement of his star player, the relationship between Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks has moved way past the couples counseling phase, diving towards the divorce.

Jackson said the team hasn't won with Anthony and that Anthony "would be better off somewhere else". NY went 31-51, falling well short of preseason expectations bolstered by the team's offseason additions of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

"I think the direction with our team is that he would be better off somewhere else", Jackson told reporters.

Anthony, who turns 33 years old this offseason, has talked openly in the past about wanting to win in NY.

Carmelo Anthony has a feeling that the New York Knicks will trade him this offseason.

Westbrook will have to help one of the youngest teams in the NBA get acclimated to playoff basketball.

Anthony hasn't necessarily been quiet about the situation either, as he chose to post on Instagram to what seemed to be directed at Phil Jackson after his not so favorited comments.

The good news for Knicks fans is that regardless of what happens with Anthony, Porzingis can't choose to leave anytime soon. But Anthony was eager to hear directly from Jackson.

Fire At Major Las Vegas Hotel Shuts Down The Strip
Clark County Fire Department confirmed the fire was eventually extinguished after crews had difficulties accessing the source. He praised the firefighters for putting the fire out so quickly and said the strong winds meant it spread at pace.

Jackson said he met with Anthony on Thursday.

That conflict was evident during Jackson's season-ending press conference Friday that sounded more like a coaching clinic than an explanation for one of the worst seasons in the 70-year history of the franchise. Convincing Anthony to come back, even for the most money, is a monumental achievement by comparison.

"Just communicate with me and be up-front with me, " Anthony said of his future with the Knicks.

Porzingis, 21, has two years remaining on his rookie contract.

Jackson has been subject to much criticism this season after failing to build a win-now roster around the aging Carmelo.

"I think there's disconnect sometimes with this team and I think there was some rebelliousness with this team that created some of the discord during the year. You don't want to end your career not winning, this is not something you want to have labeled on your career", Jackson said.

"After Jackson spoke, Anthony posted on Instagram and Twitter a photo of Leonardo DiCaprio from "The Great Gatsby" and wrote "REALLY" with two "crying laughing" emojis and his trademark "#Stay Me7o".
