Fire At Major Las Vegas Hotel Shuts Down The Strip

The Bellagio's iconic fountains ironically went on with an aquatic show as the incident went on.

A two-alarm fire at the Bellagio Resort and Casino closed the Strip to traffic for a while.

No injuries were reported but the roof suffered significant damage.

The fire broke out at the luxurious Bellagio Hotel at around 10:45 p.m. local time.

As reported by CBS 8 Las Vegas Now, the Clark County Fire Department believes the fire may have started in the area's decorative styrofoam.

The fire was contained to the exterior roof of a high-end retail section of the building.

Clark County Fire Department confirmed the fire was eventually extinguished after crews had difficulties accessing the source.

He says damage was limited to the roof of the Via Bellagio annex.

He praised the firefighters for putting the fire out so quickly and said the strong winds meant it spread at pace. The fire was located on the roof of a building on the north side of the lake.

The 77 firefighters containing the fire describe the task as "extremely difficult" because of its location.
