Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to sign the "Power For All" pact with the centre in order to make the state energy efficient by 2018 and to ensure that all the villages in the state have power supply by 2019.

In a bid to end woes of potato growers, the cabinet made a decision to purchase 1 lakh metric tonnes of potato at Rs 487 per quintal. "Even if we can not give them profit, we will ensure they do not incur loss", Sharma said.

To tackle the gruelling summers, the CM ordered that an 18-hour power supply be provided in villages, 20 hours at tehsil level and in Bundelkhand region, and 24 hours in district headquarters.

The cabinet has also made a decision to ensure payment of current cane dues to cane growers within 14 days and old dues within 120 days.

He has directed officials to make sure that villages in Uttar Pradesh get uninterrupted power supply from 6 PM to 6 AM in the morning, allowing students to study well even in nights. The decision was announced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and state's Power Minister Shrikant Sharma, who was addressing a press conference in Lucknow. And also ensure that defective or burnt transformers are replaced soon so that agriculture is not disrupted.

Mukesh Meshram, who was serving as the trade tax commissioner and secretary technical education as additional charge will now serve the Trade Tax department only.

About the one-time settlement scheme, Sharma said though surcharge has been waived of, principal amount will have to be paid. "In addition, farmers having bills of over Rs 10,000 pending will get relief in the form of making the payment in four instalments over a period of one year", he said.
