Tim Tebow hits second home run for Columbia Fireflies

The rest of Sunday's game wasn't as excited as the homer, as Tebow went 1 for 3 with 1 strike out in the Fireflies 6-0 win.

Tebow drove home three runs to give Columbia a 6-0 lead in the fifth inning.

Tim Tebow was at it again on Sunday. Unlike his first homer, when he stopped at second base because he thought it was a ground-rule double, there was no doubt about this ball leaving the yard.

Sharks Cs Thornton, Couture day to day heading into playoffs
The Sharks are the defending Western Conference champions, with savvy veterans who have been to the postseason plenty of times. Just 2-12-2 over their last 16 games overall, the club's last victory in regulation in Vancouver came on January 20.

Tebow's five runs batted him are good for second on the team.

Tebow, 29, is now one shy of Michael Jordan's home run total with Class AA Birmingham in 1994. "He works on things every single day". The former National Football League quarterback-turned-baseball player, who homered in his first professional at-bat earlier in the week, followed that up by going deep for the second time this season. If he keeps hitting like this maybe he'll move up in the Mets organization.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Fireflies continue their opening home stand with a three-game series against the Hickory (North Carolina) Crawdads that begins Monday.
