We Happy Few To Become A Movie

Compulsion Games' We Happy Few is the latest video game that is being adapted into a feature length film, according to Variety. There's no word on whether or not Compulsion Games will be part of the actual creative process, but it was noted that dj2 were "enthusiastic" when they brought the pitch to the developers. The film will be produced by Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Films and DJ2 Entertainment's Dmitri M. Johnson and Dan Jevons, with DJ2's Stephan Bugaj on tap to serve as executive producer. The studio recently made headlines after it was announced that it would be producing an adaptation of Sleeping Dogs, which will star Donnie Yen, and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

The Kickstarter-funded PC and Xbox One game takes place in the fictional English town of Wellington Wells during a dystopian, alternate 1960s, where the residents are given a government-imposed hallucinogenic drug called Joy to mask gruesome violence and an unspeakable horror they committed. This could actually be a video game adaptation worth keeping an optimistic eye on.

In response, Malaysian leaders banned North Koreans from leaving their country, leading to a three-week diplomatic standoff. Najib said in a statement that Malaysia would also "allow North Koreans to leave Malaysia" as part of the agreement.

dj2 Entertainment CEO Dmitri Johnson added: "Our commitment is to make a movie that remains true to the source material, while still surprising fans".

If you're interested in getting more into We Happy Few, the game is available on the Xbox One Game Preview Program and Steam for $29.99.
