Family of London attack victim: She's 'getting stronger'

Kurt Cochran, of Utah, who was killed in the Westminster terror attack, pictured with his wife Melissa.

The family's Go Fund Me page had raised more than $76,000 as of Friday to help Melissa cover her expenses and loss of income.

Mrs Cochran's family said they bear no ill will towards Masood, who was shot dead during the attack by a police officer.

Mrs Cochran, who was visiting London from the United States to celebrate 25 years of marriage to music producer Kurt, 54, has thanked well-wishers for the "outpouring of love and generosity".

Her husband Kurt was one of Masood's four victims as he ran over pedestrians using a rental auto and then charged into the Palace of Westminster armed with two knives. The 52-year-old then crashed the auto into the gates of Parliament and fatally stabbed police officer Keith Palmer. The couple, from Utah, had been in London to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

An image posted Thursday by her brother, Clint Payne, to a fundraising page set up by the family shows Melissa smiling as she holds a cellphone in her hospital bed.

One shows her standing with the aid of crutches and the caption "Getting stronger every day!"

He added: "She is so grateful for the outpouring of love and generosity".

Melissa's brother Clint Payne said earlier this week: "This has been a humbling and hard experience but we have felt the love of so many people during these past several days".

'So many people have been so kind, and we are deeply touched by their goodness and generosity.

"The most hard part of all of this is that Kurt is no longer with us, and we miss him terribly".

The news came after inquests were opened into the deaths of the victims of the Westminster terror attack and a separate inquest into the death of the terrorist, Khalid Masood.

The 44-year-old was killed on Westminster Bridge. Kurt died from his injuries.

Kent-born Masood, who lived in Birmingham, earlier mounted the kerb twice in a Hyundai vehicle as he sped across Westminster Bridge.

A number of people have been arrested in the wake of the attack.
