Toddler among 2 killed in Chicago

A two-year-old boy and 25-year-old man were killed - and a pregnant woman was wounded - on Tuesday in what authorities suspect was a gang-related shooting, according to Chicago Police. 2, was riding in a vehicle with his aunt, Breunna Devonte, 20 and her boyfriend, 27, who, according to police, was a known gang member.

Paramedics were able to revive the boy when they arrived at the scene, but he died from his injuries shortly after.

A third person was also injured in the shooting.

The child was taken to the hospital where he later died.

"We have very promising leads", Johnson said at a news conference. On the first day of January alone, 28 people were shot in Chicago, according to data from the Chicago Police Department.

Suddenly, several shots can be heard. "I have a bullet in my stomach", the woman screams.

Family members said she was four months pregnant. "I got a bullet in my stomach". At one point she can be heard screaming to an onlooker: "Call 911!"

Police have confirmed the authenticity of the video and it is part of their investigation, spokesman Frank Giancamilli said.

The 11-year-old, Takiya Holmes, who was shot while sitting in her mother's vehicle, succumbed to her injuries earlier on Tuesday.

The shooting happened on Chicago's west side just days after two young girls were shot in two separate incidents in the city.

"We just can not afford to continue to see our children being shot down for things that they have no involvement in", Johnson said.
